Cloud service provider Intercept chooses partner Holland Capital for growth plans

Intercept, a leading managed cloud service provider, is receiving a substantial capital injection from Holland Capital to accelerate its continued growth. Intercept helps software vendors and companies migrate their applications and software to the cloud. With this capital injection, Intercept aims to scale up its product development and expand internationally. Hogenhouck M&A advised Intercept on this transaction.

Focus on Microsoft Azure

Job Verhagen (CEO) and Rinie Huijgen (CTO) founded Intercept in 2013. The company specializes in Microsoft Azure solutions. CTO Rinie Huijgen explains: “We saw a strong need in the market for a knowledge partner focused on Microsoft technology. We responded to this need, and it turned out to be an immediate success. As a relatively new player, this allowed us to quickly take on serious, large-scale Azure projects.”

As a Microsoft managed partner, Intercept has earned the most important Microsoft Gold competencies. In 2017, Intercept became one of the first partners in the Netherlands to achieve Microsoft Azure Expert Management Service Provider status, a distinction held by only a few dozen companies worldwide.

Intercept is committed to international growth

Intercept has built a strong reputation among independent software vendors (ISVs) for migrating software and applications to the Azure cloud. The company is one of the most prominent players in Europe in this field. In addition, Intercept helps companies with the automation, development, and security of software in the Microsoft Azure cloud. Intercept was recently named Microsoft Country Partner of the Year 2020.

Job Verhagen, CEO, on Intercept’s growth ambitions: “Our ambitions extend beyond the Netherlands. We are actively working on expansion plans for the Nordics and the UK, among other markets. With Holland Capital, we can scale up our product development and realize our international growth ambitions. Holland Capital has expertise in effectively positioning fast-growing companies. They are therefore a valuable partner in this new growth phase for Intercept.”

The public cloud market is growing rapidly

The global public cloud market has grown rapidly in recent years, with Amazon and Microsoft as the major providers. In the Netherlands, Microsoft is the dominant player (56% market share) with cloud applications, infrastructure, and services such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, PowerApps, and Dynamics 365. New technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and 5G will drive even greater growth in the use of cloud infrastructure.

Holland Capital is active in the attractive growth markets within Technology and Healthcare. Niels van Aalten, partner at Holland Capital: “Intercept’s unique position as the leading Microsoft partner for ISVs makes it a very interesting company with significant growth potential. We are proud to support Intercept in its growth.”

Hein Stoops, a partner at Hogenhouck M&A, said of this transaction: “An innovative financing structure has been put in place that aligns with Intercept’s ambition to invest in its product and market. Holland Capital’s market position and expertise will certainly contribute to further growth.”
