The fishing company Cornelis Vrolijk, based in IJmuiden, is acquiring 100% of the shares in the neighboring fish-processing company Bertus-Dekker Seafood BV. Hogenhouck advised the buyer, Cornelis Vrolijk.
According to Managing Director Annerieke Vrolijk, this move is aimed at further strengthening the company’s position in the supply chain: “Bertus-Dekker Seafood BV is a modern company with a strong position in the sale of demersal fish species. Bertus-Dekker’s operations complement the Cornelis Vrolijk Group’s cutter fishing activities—carried out through our subsidiary Jaczon—very well. With this partnership, we are taking the next step in supply chain integration: from ship to shelf, including our flatfish catches. We supply a high-quality product that is sustainably caught and whose origin we can guarantee.”
Leveraging Synergy and Preserving Family Culture
Both companies are characterized by a family-oriented culture in which craftsmanship and quality are of the utmost importance. Bertus-Dekker is also enthusiastic, according to Arie and Rick Ouwehand, who will both continue to lead Bertus-Dekker’s management team, even after the proposed share transaction. The goal is for Bertus-Dekker to continue its operations as an independently operating company and, where possible, to leverage and further strengthen synergies between the two companies. The proposed transaction is still subject to a number of conditions.
