Cornelis Vrolijk's Acquisition of Seafood Parlevliet Officially Approved
September 29, 2016 – Today, the fishing company Cornelis Vrolijk from IJmuiden and the neighboring fish-processing company Seafood Parlevliet officially concluded negotiations regarding the acquisition of a majority stake. In early September, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) had already ruled that cooperation between the two family-owned businesses is permitted.
Strengthening the supply chain from ship to shelf
According to Director Annerieke Vrolijk, the acquisition will create an innovative and even more dynamic company in the fishing industry: “Through this partnership, we serve the entire supply chain and strengthen our position in the consumer market—from boat to shelf. This also allows us to better meet consumer expectations, namely a high-quality product that is sustainably caught and whose origin is known.”
Seafood Parlevliet will continue to operate under its own name. The new management team at Seafood Parlevliet will consist of Mike Parlevliet, Ab van Zetten, Richard Oerlemans, and Arnout Langerak. Emiel Parlevliet and Peter Parlevliet will remain closely involved with the company in different roles. The new management team has expressed enthusiasm for this new challenge and the added value that the partnership offers. The pelagic, demersal, and shrimp fishing operations within Cornelis Vrolijk will secure even more sales opportunities than before, while the processing division will ensure product integrity within a closed, sustainable supply chain. Many of Cornelis Vrolijk’s products carry sustainability certifications, such as the MSC label.
