Leeuwendaal Group has acquired Higher & Company. Higher & Company specializes in leadership development, change management, and strengthening the HR function. While Leeuwendaal strictly limits its operations to the public sector, Higher & Company focuses specifically on the private sector. Leeuwendaal employs approximately 140 people working out of offices in Rijswijk and Woerden. The HR consulting firm focuses exclusively on the public and (semi-)public sectors. With the acquisition of Higher & Company, Leeuwendaal is taking an important step toward the private sector. Hogenhouck acted on behalf of the buyer.
Transactions are more likely to fall through than to go through
Edward Hermans (Leeuwendaal)
“We regularly bounce ideas off the folks at Hogenhouck, even when there’s nothing specific on the table. It’s an advantage that they’re entrepreneurs too; they understand how we think. They invest in a good relationship, and that pays off when it really matters. At Hogenhouck, it’s not just about the transaction—it’s about Leeuwendaal’s future. That’s why they’re not afraid to advise against certain deals.”
“When an interesting candidate comes along, we always talk to Hogenhouck first. They understand our strategy, know where we want to take Leeuwendaal, and, above all, they’re not afraid to be honest. Potential transactions that seem interesting at first glance are scrutinized critically. More often than not, deals don’t go through, and we’re glad about that,” says Edward Hermans.
“The people at Hogenhouck are very strong both in terms of expertise and financially. They know what they’re talking about and think in terms of solutions. For them, it’s not about egos but about what’s best for Leeuwendaal. They’ll readily swap one good idea for another if it leads to a better result.”
