Serverius, an IT infrastructure provider offering data center colocation services, is entering into a partnership with investment firm CapMan Infra. The partnership aims to build a Northern European data center platform. Hogenhouck M&A advised Serverius on this transaction.

Advanced expertise

Serverius was founded in 2008 by its current CEO and owner, Gijs van Gemert, and currently employs approximately thirty people. Serverius operates three data centers in the Netherlands with a total of 8 megawatts of available capacity. With its high-level technical IT infrastructure expertise, Serverius also offers additional IT infrastructure services, such as one of the largest Dutch IP networks and interconnectivity with the third-largest Dutch internet exchange, “SpeedIX.” Serverius’s customers include major internet platforms, European data centers, internet service providers, and cloud providers. A wide range of companies rely on Serverius as a provider to deliver high-quality and secure internet infrastructure services to their users.

Growth in an exciting market

Gijs van Gemert, CEO of Serverius: "We are delighted to have CapMan on board and welcome their institutional and professional approach to support Serverius in its next phase of growth. In recent years, Serverius has undergone a significant transformation. This new partnership with CapMan is a logical next step to further optimize our processes and build a strong Northern European platform together. To serve our European customer base in the coming years, our team is looking forward to expanding our unique offering of data center services. Given the strong partnership with CapMan, I will continue to invest in our new European platform of the future. As so far, I will remain closely involved in the day-to-day operations."

Expansion into Scandinavia

Serverius is CapMan Infra’s first investment in a planned data center platform that offers connectivity across Europe. The platform aims to expand into the Scandinavian countries by leveraging CapMan Infra’s local market knowledge. The company will focus on optimizing energy consumption, increasing the use of renewable energy, and establishing high operational standards for its operations and value chain.

“We look forward to working with the Serverius team to drive further growth in this exciting market. This is an important first step toward building a larger international platform,” says Harri Halonen, Partner at CapMan Infra. “Together with Serverius, we will develop the company’s governance, administration, and customer focus to accelerate growth,” Halonen continues.

Long-term justification for existence

The Hogenhouck team that advised Serverius consisted of Victor Rosier and Cedric Baerts. Victor Rosier on the collaboration with Serverius: “It was an extensive process, in which—following a rigorous selection process with Capman—we found the right private equity partner to help Gijs and Serverius realize their European growth ambitions, using Serverius as the initial platform.”
