Solease and Eneco  are launching a joint venture focused entirely on the new offering: Eneco GroenGebouw™. This partnership offers property owners a comprehensive solution for making commercial buildings more sustainable, from analysis to consulting and from installation to financing. Hogenhouck M&A advised Solease on this transaction.

Sun-Powered Convenience for Everyone

Solease was founded in 2011 with the goal of equipping every suitable roof in the Netherlands with solar panels. As the first solar panel rental company in the Netherlands, the company was a pioneer in making it easy to make real estate more sustainable. Over the years, Solease’s product offering has expanded to include insulation, heat pumps, charging stations, and home batteries.

In addition to the residential market, the company is now also focusing on small and medium-sized businesses. The partnership with Eneco is therefore a logical step toward helping businesses with high-volume utility connections make their commercial real estate more sustainable.

Pierre Vermeulen, CEO of Solease: “We’ve been helping our customers make their operations more sustainable for years and are happy to remove any obstacles. This allows customers to invest their time and money in their businesses, while also saving money and reducing CO2 emissions. Moreover, making operations more sustainable requires the necessary technical expertise.”

Roderick van Wisselingh, CFO of Solease, adds: “Furthermore, a substantial investment is often required, which can deter companies from taking the step toward sustainability. We are therefore very excited to be able to offer this integrated solution—including a financing option—to larger business customers, such as sports clubs and retailers, in partnership with Eneco.”

Eneco GreenBuilding™

With GroenGebouw, Eneco demonstrates that becoming more sustainable doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. “We do all the work, and customers can count on lower energy bills, an increase in the property’s value, and a reliable partner who provides advice based on the latest insights,” says Dick Velings, Managing Director of Eneco B2B.

M&A Process

During the M&A process, Solease was advised by an experienced team from Hogenhouck m&a: Mark van Beusekom, Daan Zonneveld, and Bart van ’t Zet. Mark van Beusekom, Managing Partner at Hogenhouck m&a, explains: “It was a strategic process. Working closely with the shareholders, we first defined the company’s direction and carefully weighed all strategic options. The joint venture with Eneco was the optimal outcome and offers both the company and its shareholders a solid and sustainable future. By combining expertise and capital, this step also actively contributes to accelerating the energy transition and making buildings in the Netherlands more sustainable. For Hogenhouck m&a, this transaction is a valuable addition to our experience in the energy transition sector.”
