M&A Associate

At Hogenhouck M&A, our clients come first. Entrepreneurs who are about to take a pivotal step toward the future—one that will shape both their life’s work and their own lives.

About Hogenhouck m&a

Hogenhouck M&A is a leading boutique M&A firm that assists entrepreneurs in selling their businesses. With over 30 professionals, we are among the most sought-after sell-side advisors for entrepreneurs in the technology and innovation sectors.

Our ambition is clear: by 2030, Hogenhouck M&A will be the first choice for entrepreneurs selling their businesses. We want to double our revenue—not through volume, but through focus, quality, and genuine commitment to every deal.

Our driving force: for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs. We think like entrepreneurs, take ownership of the results, and build an organization that creates sustainable value for customers, colleagues, and shareholders.

Why this role, and why now?

Our growth requires strong professionals who take responsibility for the day-to-day execution of transactions. As an Associate, you serve as the link between analysis and process management.

This is not a role in which you simply perform isolated analyses. You take ownership of an entire subprocess and ensure that analyses, documentation, and information flows are completed accurately, on time, and with care.

The role

You will take ownership of the execution of one or more M&A transactions, from valuation and documentation to due diligence and closing. You will serve as the primary operational point of contact for the client and provide substantive guidance to analysts.

Responsibilities

Trade Execution

  • Contains the complete file for one or more concurrent mandates: IM, valuation, buyer or target lists, and reports.
  • Translates the project plan into specific tasks, deadlines, and requests for information.
  • Monitors progress and promptly identifies areas where action or coordination is needed.

Analysis and Documentation

  • Develops financial models and valuations, and analyzes historical results, forecasts, and value drivers.
  • Drafts teasers, information memoranda, presentations, and other transaction documentation.
  • Provides the substantive basis for negotiations and decision-making.

Customer and Due Diligence

  • Serves as the client’s primary point of contact.
  • Coordinates data room and due diligence information flows and keeps the CRM and files up to date.
  • Supports managers, directors, and partners in bid comparisons, negotiations, and closings.

Team and Business

  • Leads analysts on the deal team and monitors the quality of their work.
  • Provides specific feedback and actively contributes to their development.
  • Identifies business opportunities and generates qualified leads.

Where You Make a Difference

  • You combine financial expertise with a structured, practical approach.
  • You take responsibility for the case and don't just sit back and wait.
  • You provide analyses and documents that the team can use as a direct foundation for their work.
  • You communicate professionally and approachably with business owners and colleagues.
  • You help analysts improve by providing clear instructions and substantive feedback.

We measure success based on, among other things,

  • Process owner for multiple projects simultaneously, from kick-off to closing.
  • Deliverable Quality
  • Customer NPS for your own processes: always an 8 or higher.
  • Sales: Generated qualified leads.
  • People: 1 to 2 analysts to mentor / eNPS

Who We're Looking For

  • A university degree in finance or economics, or an equivalent academic qualification.
  • Relevant experience in M&A, corporate finance, transaction services, or a similar financial environment.
  • You can independently develop models, perform valuations, and coordinate sub-processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, meticulous, proactive, and comfortable handling responsibility and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a good command of Dutch and English.

Your Development

The next step is Deal Execution Manager. This is the pivotal point: you’ll transition from independently executing processes to managing multiple processes and deal teams, while also developing your own commercial contribution.

Our culture: walk the talk

  • A deal is a deal—you do what you say you'll do, and if something isn't working out, you bring it up in a timely manner.
  • Take ownership—treat time, money, and reputation as if they were your own.
  • Get it done—you'll find the smart way, even when things don't go your way.
  • Excellence is the standard—your work reflects your standards.
  • Together we are stronger—you make the team stronger and prioritize the firm’s results over your own interests.

Location and Presence

You’ll be based at our offices in The Hague and Amsterdam. Because you’ll be working closely with clients and deal teams, we believe it’s important to be physically present. On average, we work four days a week in the office. You have the option to work flexibly from home one day a week.
